The NoteI stare at the note under the lunch table. All sound seems to dissipate. Right then, it’s just me and that note. It’s very simple, ripped from a piece of paper. The simplicity slaps me in the face. Aren’t notes supposed to be long, filled with allusions to other notes? Crumpled and folded, like it was stuffed in a hurry. But no. Not this note. This note is tiny. It holds only one sentence. Nothing about who it’s from. The note just says, “I Love You.” I don’t know who it’s from or how they know me. Worse, I don’t know if it’s FOR me.
